Covid 19 Procedures

We strive to keep up to date with current Public Health Orders. The current order of Dec 3, 2020 is available here: BC PHO Dec 3, 2020

Here is the relevant part:

  • Private lessons are OK, this applies to ALL AGES. Those of you already booked into privates may continue.
  • Kids, Youth and Teens up to and including 18 years of age can restart classes
  • Adults 19+ are currently suspended from all activities (we hear they are on the naughty list and shouldn’t expect Christmas presents either) until further guidelines are posted.

The following points are directly from the current order and must be followed explicitly: 

18. A person may permit a place…. to be used for, or may provide, sport for children or youth if the following conditions are met:   a. participants maintain a physical distance of three metres from one another and do not engage in handshaking, high fives, hugging or similar behaviour;     b. the focus is on activities that have a low risk of COVID-19 virus transmission;     c. there are no spectators unless the presence of a spectator is necessary in order to provide care to a child or youth 

19. A person may permit a place… to be used for, or may provide, indoor group low intensity fitness activity if the following conditions are met:     a. I have posted guidelines for indoor group low intensity fitness activities on your website;     b. the person who provides or hosts the indoor group low intensity fitness activity or developed an updated COVID-19 safety plan in accordance with my guidelines; and c. the COVID-19 safety plan has been posted in a place easily visible to participants.   

Here is what we are doing to adhere to the regulations:

Register for class

  • Class sizes have been reduced to allow 3m spacing between students
  • Each student must use the scheduling app to register for class.

Entering the Building

  • Use hand sanitizer at the entry door upon entering the building
  • No one with medical complications allowed to enter the floor area
  • No outside training partners allowed into the dojo, no exceptions
  • If a team member or close contact has contracted COVID-19, a medical clearance is required and needs to be documented prior to return
  • Coach to record a verbal consent of not having any of the symptoms prior to class
  • Remove street shoes and leave them outside of training area
  • Place outdoor gear into personal bag, leave bag outside practice area
  • Bring water onto floor area.

While on the Floor

  • Masks encouraged on the floor but not mandatory
  • Students will confine themselves to a section of the mat and not move to other sections, leaving distance between confined areas as marked
  • Avoid use of bathrooms/change rooms
  • Warm up to be done in your confined area
  • No sharing of Dummy’s or bags with other groups
  • No sharing of any personal items.

Post Practice for Students

  • Place mask on immediately once off the floor
  • Use hand sanitizer once off the training floor
  • Use hand sanitizer at the exit door
  • DO NOT remove and dispose of single use masks until outside or away from others
  • Shower and clean equipment immediately once home.

Cleaning of training space between classes and after final class

  • Spray down all mat surfaces with cleaner and ensure wet time is as directed on the label
  • Wipe down all handles
  • Spray down cage wall if used
  • Spray down if any equipment is used (dummy’s, heavy bags, thai pads, etc.).

Participant Health and Wellness Monitoring

  • All students must answer a verbal health and wellness questionnaire each day. Health and Wellness Questionnaire
    • Have you had any of the following symptoms in the last 2 weeks: Fever, Chills, Cough, Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, Sore throat and painful swallowing, Stuffy or runny nose, Loss of sense of smell, Headache, Muscle aches, Fatigue, Loss of appetite
    • Have you been in close contact or cared for anyone with the above symptoms in the last 2 weeks?
    • Have you been traveling either in the province or out of the province in the last 2 weeks?
    • Have you been in close contact with anyone who has traveled in the last 14 days?
  • Students must agree that in the event of feeling sick or signs of feeling sick they must self quarantine for 14 days and notify the club immediately.
  • Students agree to abide by physical distancing measures.

Sickness Guidelines

  • For any individuals coming into the facility, are required to stay home if they experience any of the following symptoms: fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, sore throat and painful swallowing, stuffy or runny nose, loss of sense of smell, headache, muscle aches, fatigue, and loss of appetite.
  • If self-isolating at home, individuals are required to stay home for a minimum of 14 days.
  • Individuals are required to notify the club if they experience symptoms and are self-isolating.
  • Clubs are required to notify all club members and individuals accessing the club that a member has shown symptoms and they may have been exposed to a virus.
  • Club is required to notify local health authorities and BCWA of the potential exposure.
  • Club to notify all shared facility partners, suppliers, and others about the outbreak.
